The Heart Hospital at Hamad Medical Corporation has begun using the advanced Faraview System to treat atrial fibrillation, in a first in the Middle East, and outside the US and Europe.

Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common and serious types of irregular, rapid heart rhythms. It can lead to severe complications such as stroke and heart failure.

Developed by Boston Scientific, the Faraview System provides physicians with unprecedented, detailed visualisation of heart tissue, allowing them to accurately identify the areas responsible for irregular heart rhythms. This enhances the safety of the procedure and shortens its duration, as the system precisely targets abnormal tissue while sparing the surrounding healthy structures.

The introduction of this technology aligns with HMC’s ongoing efforts to enhance the treatment tools available to its clinicians. This achievement represents a major milestone in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and underscores HMC’s steadfast commitment to its strategy of adopting the latest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, while ensuring that all members of the Qatari community have access to world-class healthcare, a statement added.
