Katara Cultural Village, in co-operation with the Malaysian Embassy in Qatar, organised on Tuesday (October 21) a special tasting event celebrating the masterpieces of Malaysian cuisine, renowned for its diversity and authentic flavours.
The event was attended by Saif Saad Al Dosari, deputy general manager of Katara and director of the Human Resources Department; Mohammed Faisal Razali, Malaysian ambassador to Qatar; along with several ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in Qatar, among others.
Razali thanked Katara for the fruitful co-operation in hosting the event, stressing it was not only a celebration of Malaysian cuisine but also a festivity of identity, heritage, and intercultural communication.
“Malaysian food is an identity that reflects the unity and cultural diversity of our people and serves as a bridge connecting Malaysia with the world,” the envoy said.
A number of diplomats and other officials were present.
He also announced that the Malaysian government will launch the “Year of Visiting Asia 2026” initiative next year, providing visitors with unforgettable cultural and tourist experiences in the heart of Malaysia.
The envoy expressed his delight at the participation of well-known Qatari food blogger Fahad al-Bishri, who visited Malaysia and showcased the diversity of its cuisine, highlighting how food diplomacy serves as an effective tool for promoting understanding and rapprochement between peoples.
