HE Minister of Labour, Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri, met with a number of ministers participating in the Sixth Session of the Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers, held in Doha. HE the Minister met with Azar Bayramov, Director-General of the OIC Labour Center; Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development of Pakistan; Joseph Hamilton, Presidential Adviser of Guyana; and Fassoun Coulibaly, Minister of Labour, Civil Service and Social Dialogue of Mali. HE Dr al-Marri also met with Dr. Khalid Mahmoud al-Bakkar, Minister of Labour of Jordan; Mohamed Gebran, Minister of Labour of Egypt; Ali Ahmed Haidar, Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development of Maldives; Eng Ali al-Abed al-Rida, Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation of Libya; and Soleha Kholmahmadzoda, Minister of Labour, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan.

In the meetings, the parties discussed various aspects of joint co-operation in the labour sector, and ways to strengthen and develop them.

Discussions also addressed mechanisms to tackle the challenges facing labour markets amid rapid global changes, and to enhance collective efforts during the ministerial session to support nationalisation programs and initiatives, develop national competencies, promote social protection, ensure fair employment, keep pace with technological advancements, and foster economic empowerment across the Member States.
