Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC), a national innovation centre established by Qatar University (QU) and based at the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), announced that its Smart Parking Management System, which has been successfully deployed in several major national and international events over the past few years, will once again play a key role in supporting parking operations during Qatar’s upcoming large-scale events, including the Arab Cup tournament.

First implemented in 2021, the Smart Parking Management System proved its effectiveness in optimising parking operations and improving the visitor experience.

Its success during that initial deployment paved the way for its integration into subsequent large-scale events, most notably during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where it provided real-time insights and operational support that helped organisers manage traffic flow and parking availability seamlessly across multiple venues.

Building on this proven track record, the system is now set to continue its impact in the upcoming Arab Cup, ensuring smooth and intelligent mobility for thousands of attendees.

Developed entirely in Qatar, QMIC’s Smart Parking Management System leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision technologies to monitor parking lot occupancy, assess capacity in real-time, and provide organisers with live dashboards and predictive analytics.

These tools enable data-driven decision-making, allowing event organizers to optimise parking utilisation, reduce congestion, and make proactive operational adjustments to improve the visitor journey and overall efficiency.

Beyond its technical achievements, the system exemplifies QMIC’s commitment to solving real-world challenges through locally developed, globally relevant innovations.

It reflects the centre’s broader model of transforming research and development (R&D) into practical solutions that empower entities in Qatar to operate more intelligently and sustainably.

“Our Smart Parking Management System is a great example of how locally developed technologies can deliver world-class performance,” said Omar al-Jaber, Director of Strategic Partnerships & Outreach at QMIC.
