The event was organised by the Philippine Technological Council - Mena (PTC-MENA) Qatar Affairs, in collaboration with the Asean Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO), and the Philippine Technological Council (PTC).
The occasion honoured Filipino engineers across the Middle East who have achieved the distinguished professional titles of Asean Engineer, Associate Asean Engineer, and Asean Engineering Technologist – a recognition reflecting their commitment to technical excellence and regional co-operation under AER.
In a statement, Philippine ambassador to Qatar Mardomel Celo D Melicor lauded the Filipino engineers’ remarkable contributions to both Qatar and the broader Asean community. The ceremony featured messages of inspiration and support from respected leaders in the engineering community.
Roy L Baquiran, PTC-MENA presidential deputy adviser and co-ordinator for Qatar Affairs, welcomed the dignitaries and guests while Trese T Bustamante, PTC-Mena presidential adviser, delivered the opening remarks, followed by an inspirational address from Federico A Monsada, PTC president. Simon Yeong Chin Chow, AFEO AER head commissioner hailed from Malaysia, also encouraged engineers to uphold the spirit of collaboration and innovation across Asean nations.
The highlight of the event was the Charging of the Conferees followed by the pinning and the awarding of the certificates. Acceptance messages were also delivered from several conferees, representing different professional organisation members of the PTC.
IIEE-SQC, represented by Joseph O Salviejo, vice president for Internal Affairs; Teofilo F Tongson, Jr, PEE/ACPE Mentoring Committee chairman; Erwin S Peniones, AAPER Committee Chairman; Edgar B Bernardino, NPEEMC chairman; and Rudilyn S Reyes, AAPER Committee member, along with the presence of Joseph A Recella, 2020 chapter president and 2025 BODs, attended to witness the conferment.
The IIEE-SQC members conferred under the AER program are: Asean Engineers – Enrico Allan M Asinas, Elmer B Baltazar, Sydney B Domingo, April G Garcia, Hadji Rajiv G Gumaga, Abnir S Icmat, Robert S Mayorga, Rommel P Remoreras, Eva R Villa, and Raymundo Y Zapanta, Jr; Associate Asean Engineers – Erick Paul M Caburian and Erwin A Mejorada; and Asean Engineering Technologist – Marlon O Carangan.
Aligned with the Cafeo 43 theme “Asean Engineers: Beacons of Prosperity, Inclusivity, Equity, Resilience, and Sustainability,” the conferment underscored the vital role of Filipino engineers as dynamic contributors to innovation, sustainability, and regional progress within the Asean community.
