The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Culture, has participated in the 29th special meeting of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Culture of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, held in Kuwait, the current chair of the session.


The meeting was attended from the Qatari side, on behalf of HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani, Minister of Culture, by HE Dr Ghanem bin Mubarak al-Ali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture. The meeting opened with a speech delivered by HE Abdulrahman bin Baddah al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Culture of Kuwait, in which he addressed the heads of delegations and attendees, stressing the importance of continuing and strengthening Gulf cultural cooperation in various fields. He denounced the treacherous Israeli aggression against Qatar, affirming the full solidarity of the GCC states with it.


It was followed by a speech by Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, in which he emphasized the General Secretariat's commitment to co-operation among the Gulf Arab states, which will activate joint cultural action.


Following the meeting, the ministers, and heads of delegations attended the Gulf Creators Honouring Ceremony, during which two creative personalities from each Gulf state were honoured. Dr Ahmed Abdulmalik and Abdulrahman al-Mannai were honoured in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the Qatari and Gulf cultural scene.
