Qatar University (QU) health sector is celebrating the inspiring journey of Eiman al-Mohannadi, a biomedical sciences graduate who has found her calling in the microscopic world of health and discovery as she is forging a path toward becoming a leading microbiologist and healthcare researcher.
Al-Mohannadi’s journey began with a general interest in medicine. However, a pivotal moment came during a histology class, where viewing cells under the microscope sparked her fascination with the unseen world within us. That moment ignited a deep love for biomedical sciences and set her on a mission to become a laboratory technologist—a behind-the-scenes health professional whose work is vital to diagnostics and treatment.
“What propels me daily is the opportunity to contribute to the world of health sciences,” Eiman says. “The realisation that today’s work could one day lead to a medical breakthrough or a more effective healthcare system fuels my motivation.”
Her first year brought challenges, particularly in subjects like Anatomy and Physiology. However, Eiman turned obstacles into stepping stones, building resilience and growing into a more confident and capable student. While her family initially hoped she would pursue medicine, they quickly embraced her decision to study Biomedical Sciences after witnessing her dedication and passion.
Among the many aspects of college life, Eiman particularly values Interprofessional Education. Working alongside students from different health professions has taught her the importance of teamwork and offered a broader understanding of integrated care. She also finds immense joy in Microbiology, where theory meets practice, and hands-on learning brings textbook concepts to life.
Al-Mohannadi’s cademic path is deeply personal. Inspired by her brother’s experience with diabetes, she dreams of contributing to breakthrough solutions—particularly through stem cell research—to transform treatment options for chronic diseases.
Her proudest achievement to date has been her internship at Mater Olbia Hospital in Sardinia, Italy. This global opportunity allowed her to gain valuable exposure across various laboratory departments and represent Qatar internationally, further igniting her ambition and pride.
