The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) celebrated the International Day of Sign Languages, which falls on September 23 each year, with an event attended by many participants at the Family Consulting Center (Wifaq).

In a statement, the Ministry explained that this event aims to integrate the deaf community into society, empower them to participate socially, raise awareness of the rights of deaf individuals, and encourage the use of sign language to communicate with them.

The Ministry affirmed that this day represents a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the issues faced by deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals around the world.

On this occasion, MSDF's Director of the Community Care Department Reem Khalifa Al Ajmi stated that the Ministry seeks to highlight the deaf community and enhance societal awareness of their rights and capabilities through various events that showcase their skills and creativity in society.

She emphasized the commitment to supporting the rights of individuals with hearing disabilities and enhancing their active participation in various fields of life.

On the sidelines of the event, the Ministry inaugurated a side exhibition featuring works by deaf students, including art pieces, handicrafts, school projects, and creative expressions in sign language.
