The activities were held during September 14 - 20 with the participation of more than 1,444 volunteers. The closing ceremony was attended by Muqbil Madhour al-Shammari, Director of the General Cleanliness Department, Mohamed Faraj al-Kubaisi, Assistant Director of the General Cleanliness Department, besides section heads and representatives of the participating entities.
The activities included cleanup campaigns across 13 beaches and three islands with the participation of several municipalities, government, and community entities. The campaigns resulted in the collection of 4.56 tonnes of various waste, including 2.2 tonnes of general waste, 1.26 tonnes of recyclable materials, and 1.1 tonnes of wood and bulky waste.
The campaigns covered the a number of beaches: Al Wakra Public Beach, Al Wakra Family Beach, Abu Fentas, Simaisma Family Beach, Al Kharaij, Abu Samra, Zekreet, Al Shamal Corniche, Fariha, Al Thakhira, Umreih, Doha Umm Al-Maa, and Sealine Public Beach. The activities also extended to three islands: Al Safliya, Lekhwair, and Umm Jateelah.
These activities reflect the fruitful cooperation between the community and public and private entities, and highlight the importance of commitment to cleanliness and environmental preservation as part of a sustainable lifestyle aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and Qatar National Vision 2030.
