Regional Spokesperson for the US Department of State Michael Mitchell affirmed that the relations between the State of Qatar and the United States of America represent a fundamental pillar in enhancing security and stability in the region, stressing his country's appreciation for the prominent role played by Doha in this regard.

In exclusive remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Mitchell said that as seen during the visit of the US President Donald Trump to the region, Qatari-American relations are of great importance, and they highly value the efforts made by the State of Qatar to promote stability and peace, not only with regard to the negotiations between Hamas and Israel, but also in supporting all efforts aimed at ending conflicts in the region in general.

Mitchell pointed out that the recent visit of the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Doha reaffirmed the position of the State of Qatar as a strategic partner of the United States, noting that his country has relied and continues to rely on Doha to play a pivotal role in peace negotiations and in enhancing security and stability in the region.

Commenting on President Trump's speech before the general debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly held earlier Tuesday in New York, the US State Department Regional Spokesperson clarified that his country remains committed to its obligations toward the Middle East region.
