As part of the “Ten Million Trees Planting” initiative launched by the Ministry of Municipality, Doha Municipality and the Public Parks Department in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of El Salvador in Doha organized a tree-planting event on Wednesday morning at Airport Park.
The event featured the planting of Tabebuia rosea trees, the national tree of El Salvador, in celebration of El Salvador’s National Day and in commemoration of 22 years of diplomatic relations and friendship between Qatar and El Salvador.
The event was attended by a number of ambassadors accredited to Qatar, officials and staff from the Ministry of Municipality, representatives of the Embassy of El Salvador, and a number of school students.
Eng. Jamal Matar Al-Nuaimi, Director General of Doha Municipality, expressed his pride in cooperating with the Embassy of El Salvador in this green initiative, stressing that such cooperation reflects the Ministry of Municipality’s commitment to building bridges of partnership with various diplomatic and community entities to support its sustainability initiatives. He also praised the distinguished relations between Qatar and El Salvador, which go beyond diplomatic ties to encompass shared visions and parallel efforts to build a more sustainable and prosperous future for peoples.
Similarly, Mohamed Ibrahim al-Sada, Director of the Public Parks Department, affirmed that organizing this event comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to implement the “Ten Million Trees” initiative, which aims to expand green cover and enhance the quality of life in cities. He noted that the participation of the Embassy of El Salvador in this initiative represents a model of international cooperation towards sustainable cities.
At the conclusion of the event, both the Director General of Doha Municipality and the Director of the Public Parks Department extended their thanks to the Embassy of El Salvador and all attendees for their active participation in the occasion, which embodies the Ministry’s keenness to broaden partnerships and strengthen joint efforts for a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.
