The Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (QOSM) will host a panel discussion, titled “Translation and Sport: Bridging Knowledge Across Languages and Cultures” to mark International Translation Day 2025 tomorrow.
The event, set to be held at QOSM’s Auditorium, aims to illuminate the key role of specialised translation in disseminating sports knowledge to Arabic-speaking audiences.
The discussion will explore the critical aspects of sports translation, including the imperative of precision and cultural sensitivity. Attendees will gain insights into the common linguistic and technical challenges encountered by translators in the sports arena.
The panel will also highlight the indispensable role of publishers and cultural institutions in fostering and promoting specialised translation initiatives.

Distinguished guests, including Dr Ahmad Haji Safar, the translator of the Arabic edition of Pascal Boniface’s “Géopolitique du sport” (published by Qatar University Press), and a representative from Qatar University Press, will share their expertise.
