Canada's Minister of International Development Randeep Sarai expressed deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, noting that Israeli military actions have led to widespread famine among Palestinians, especially children, and have made it a devastating reality that exacerbates the daily suffering of the population.

In a statement, the minister explained that the ongoing conflict, restrictions on movement, and Israeli military actions are exacerbating the suffering of civilians. He emphasized that Israel has violated its obligations under international humanitarian law and obstructed the delivery of essential humanitarian aid, resulting in increased civilian deaths due to starvation.

Sarai referred to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, which officially declared a state of famine in the Gaza Strip, and considered that the continuation of Israeli measures is seriously exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. He stressed the need for international intervention to end the suffering and protect civilians.

The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies imposed since March 2nd. The severe famine has been compounded by the ongoing genocidal war waged by the Israeli entity since October 7th, 2023.
