The 33rd edition of the Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing concluded Saturday in Cairo after nine days of diverse artistic performances that showcased classical Arabic music, oriental singing, and contemporary works by leading Arab and international stars and bands.
The festival also honored 12 distinguished figures for their contributions to the Arab artistic scene and to the success of previous editions.
Marking the closing ceremony, Egypt's Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno announced that September 15 will be designated as "Egyptian Music Day," in commemoration of the late musician Sayed Darwish.
