Al-Markhiya Gallery has opened the new virtual exhibition by Iraqi artist Faleh al-Saidi, held through the international art platform "Artsy" and continuing until September 3.

The exhibition, titled "Women in the Marshes," offers a remarkable artistic experience, through which al-Saidi highlights the women of southern Iraq and the strength and resilience they represent in a fragile and marginalised environment.

This artistic series embodies women's relationship with land, water, and memory, moving away from the direct depiction of the marsh landscape, but rather through an expressive treatment brimming with symbols and connotations.

The artist relied on acrylic and pastel techniques in his works, employing earthy colours and free lines that border on visual poetry. This allowed him to craft paintings that simultaneously carry personal and political dimensions, reflecting his experience of exile and alienation, offering a tribute to women and the culture of the marshes throughout the ages.

The virtual exhibition, which can be viewed on the Artsy website, provides an opportunity for audiences from around the world to interact with al-Saidi's artistic experience and discover his unique signature, which combines nostalgia for the homeland and the evocation of the collective memory of southern Iraq.

This exhibition is a continuation of Al-Markhiya Gallery's efforts to support contemporary Arab arts and to highlight the experiences of creative artists on international platforms, reflecting the diversity and richness of the art scene.
