As part of its strategy to develop its programming and strengthen its digital and news presence, Alaraby TV has recently launched the updated version of its daily programme 'Tawasol', (Arabic for communication) which highlights the most trending stories and news on social media platforms, presenting them in a dynamic television format that is both diverse in content and balanced in perspectives.
One of the most significant updates to the programme was its transformation from a 10-minute news bulletin segment into a standalone daily show running for 30 minutes. This expansion allows for richer storytelling and more engaging segments, with a presentation style tailored to the habits and expectations of social media audiences.
The programme has also undergone a complete visual identity upgrade. 'Tawasol' is now broadcast from a modern studio featuring a dynamic video wall, enabling its presenters to engage more interactively with the material. The team also received specialized training to work with multi-camera systems and interactive screens, enhancing the overall viewer experience.
These updates to the format and content have led to a remarkable increase in viewership. In the second quarter of this year, the programme recorded a 130% growth compared to the same period in 2024, surpassing 50mn views on YouTube. Yahya al-Suhaimi, supervisor of 'Tawasol' at Alaraby TV, emphasized the team’s commitment to addressing and engaging with the interests of the Arab viewer, while maintaining editorial integrity.
He said: “We showcase viral stories that are widely circulated online, but our main priority is to avoid sliding into populism when covering them. The pillars guiding our vision for the programme are professionalism, credibility, balance, and the ability to provide added value in an already saturated media landscape.”
'Tawasol' airs Sunday to Thursday at 5:30pm Doha time on Alaraby TV, with all episodes available on the Alaraby Plus app.
