Al Wakrah Municipality's Health Control Section carried out 1,849 field inspection tours during August 4- 10, targeting food establishments and Al Wakrah Fish Market.
The inspections resulted in issuing two violations in accordance with Law No (8) of 1990 on the regulation of human food control, and around 68kg of food were destroyed for being unfit for human consumption.
In addition, about 6,500kg of fish displayed at the fish market during the daily auction were examined by the specialised veterinarian to ensure their safety.
Al Wakrah Municipality affirmed it will continue to intensify health inspections to ensure the safety of food offered to the public, in line with the Ministry of Municipality’s vision of achieving sustainability and providing a healthy and safe environment for consumers.
