An array of events ranging from cultural extravaganzas to sport events will mark the Year of Culture with Argentina and Chile.

A vibrant line-up of fall programmes was announced at a press briefing Thursday in Doha, in the presence of the stakeholders' representatives.

The event, according to a statement from Years of Culture (YoC), will showcase the cultural landscapes of Argentina and Chile to audiences in Qatar while lending the communities in Qatar opportunities to explore fresh connections through art, literature, design, film, music, hospitality, trade and culinary experiences encouraging dialogue and collaboration across cultures.

Musical concert “Sounds of Qatar and Argentina” will be organised by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) at the world-renowned Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires on September 17, preceded by a special preview at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) on September 14.

“Vuelvo al sur – A Musical Journey Through Argentina and Chile” will be organised on September 25 by the Qatar National Library (QNL) and QPO.

The QNL will organise “Make With Me: Argentina Edition” on September 30.

Qatar Reads, a QNL initiative, will hold a Theme Launch on October 8 at the QNL, with a focus on Argentina and featuring the launch of the book *Maryam in Argentina and an interaction with Argentina’s ambassador to Qatar.

The “Family Reading Programme” by Qatar Reads will roll out an Argentina-themed edition in October.

Qatar Museums will hold Jedariart Cycling Track Activation from October 8-21.

Chilean muralist Daniel Marceli and Argentinian artist Pablo Harymbat will transform the Qatar Olympic Cycling Track tunnels into an outdoor gallery celebrating indigenous cultures and Latin American visual storytelling.

“Make with Me: Chile Edition” will be held on October 21 at the QNL.

The programme “Tourism and Hospitality Engagement Through the Lens of Culture” will be held on October 28-30.

Organised by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the programme will become a robust cultural and business event.

The QPO will present “Cordillera Sonora – Sound of the Mountains” at the QNL on October 30.

The QNL will also host a storytelling and craft session inspired by the oral traditions of Rapa Nui (Easter Island, Chile) on October 30.

Qatar Reads and the National Museum of Qatar will host a cultural event marking the close of the October Years of Culture programme on November 1.

The QNL will welcome guests to a special event featuring authentic Argentinian cuisine in November.

The QNL will also host guests to a special event featuring authentic Chilean cuisine.

On November 13, a workshop at the QNL will have the participants create miniature guitars inspired by Argentinian musical heritage.

The QNL will offer a storytelling and creative workshop inspired by María Elena Walsh, the beloved Argentine author of children’s stories and poems, on November 15.

The Chilean edition of “Take & Make” at the QNL will feature a craft session on November 20.

A culinary journey with award-winning Chilean Chef Francisco Araya will be held at the QNL on November 20.

The Doha Film Festival will spotlight emerging filmmakers from Argentina and Chile in a “Made in Argentina/Chile” showcase.

Youth judges from both countries will join the Ajyal Youth Jury Exchange promoting cross-cultural storytelling through film.

M7 at Msheireb Downtown Doha will host a retail pop-up featuring designs from YoC partner countries.

The Makers Space Takeover will feature one of the YoC designers from the pop-up, who will take over M7’s Makers Space to develop a small-scale project.

On November 24-25, Qatar Foundation's World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) will host Chilean thought leaders Ana Maria Raad, founder of Reimagina Foundation.

Organised by Qatar Museums (QM), the World Wide Walls Doha initiative will bring Chilean street artist Posh del Futuro and Argentinian muralist Animalitoland to Al Aziziyah neighbourhood of Doha from December 3-9.

As part of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art’s anniversary celebrations, Argentinian artist Gabriel Chaile’s clay sculpture Autorretrato will be on display in December.

The Doha Film Institute (DFI) will host a selection of family-friendly titles from Chile and Argentina in an open-air setting in December.

In December, Generation Amazing (GA) will host a cultural and sport-based exchange initiative centred around Football for Development, engaging Club Deportivo Palestino from Chile.

The engagement will include friendly football matches in collaboration with the Qatar Stars League, community engagement and cultural exchange initiatives with the Gazan residents in Qatar and screening of the *Chasing Dreams docuseries.

The press briefing Thursday was attended by Celina Cirilo (deputy chief of mission and chargé d’affaires and the embassy of Argentina), Alejandro Sharif Chacoff Perez (trade attaché at the Chilean embassy to the GCC), Ali al-Kuwari from Culturide, Avantika Nair (from GA), Sonja Park (from the QPO), Abdullatif al-Jasmi, Hazem Idriss (from the QM), Fatema al-Mannai (from the QNL), and Shahin Ammane (from WISE).
