The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's Marine Protection Department has spotted an environmental violation aboard a boat in the open waters. The offence is the use of plastic bags to store Arabic bread as bait for fishing.
Inspection teams documented the violation and took the necessary legal action against the violators, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations that aim to safeguard and protect biodiversity in the marine environment.
The ministry stressed that such measures are part of its strict policy in dealing with any practices that threaten the marine environment or disrupt its natural balance. This particular practice constitutes a breach of environmental regulations in the country due to its harmful impact on the marine ecosystem, as plastic bags are among the pollutants that endanger marine life.
The ministry stressed that protecting the marine environment is a shared responsibility, and that the cooperation of fishermen, boat owners, and marine activity enthusiasts is essential to the success of conservation efforts. It also urged everyone to immediately report any harmful or illegal environmental practices through the designated channels, noting that swift response to such reports helps minimize damage and safeguard natural resources.
