Hospitals in the Gaza Strip have recorded five new deaths, including a child, in the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition.

Health sources in Gaza reported that the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition has risen to 222, including 101 children.

Since March 2, 2025, Israeli forces have closed all crossings into the Gaza Strip and have prevented the entry of most food and medical aid, causing a widespread famine in the territory.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) had earlier warned that malnutrition among children under the age of five had doubled between March and June, due to the ongoing blockade.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that malnutrition levels in Gaza have reached alarming rates, and that the deliberate siege and delay in aid deliveries have led to significant loss of life.

It is reported that nearly one in five children under the age of five in Gaza City is suffering from acute malnutrition.

The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is rapidly worsening amid the blockade and severe shortages of food and medical supplies.

The dire famine overlaps with the widespread Israeli bombardment that had continued since October 7, 2023.
