French President Emmanuel Macron condemned Monday Israel's announced plan to capture the city of Gaza as a disaster and a headlong rush into permanent war.
Macron reiterated his proposal to establish a stabilization mission under a United Nations mandate to secure the Gaza Strip.
According to a statement from the French presidency, Macron considered Israel's announcement to expand its operations in Gaza City and its aim to re-occupy it as an unprecedented catastrophe in its severity, which entrenches a path leading to a never-ending war.
In this regard, the French president proposed forming an international coalition under a UN mandate aimed at stabilizing the Gaza Strip and supporting its residents, stressing that the Security Council must now work to establish this mission.
