The Palestinian National Council (PNC) condemned the Israeli occupation army's targeting of journalists, which claimed the lives of several and left others seriously wounded.
In a statement today, Palestinian National Council Speaker Rawhi Fattouh affirmed that this crime is part of a systematic policy to silence the truth and prevent the world from reporting the Israeli entity's crimes, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and UN resolutions protecting journalists.
He also explained that the Israeli occupation executed dozens of journalists since the start of its aggression on the Gaza Strip in an attempt to obscure the facts and commit its crimes silently and without witnesses. He stressed that targeting journalists constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity, adding to a series of crimes from which no component of the Palestinian people has been spared.
Fattouh held the Israeli government fully responsible for these crimes, calling on the international community, the International Federation of Journalists, and all human rights and media organizations to take immediate action to protect journalists and stop them from being targeted.
