The Natural Reserves Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change exerted extensive efforts during the second quarter of this year.

During this period the department issued 85 licenses for related national development projects, responded to 183 reports and complaints on related matters, and spotted 227 violations. Besides, the department conducted five field visits to Al Thakhira and Al Sheehaniya Reserves.

The Department also carried out development works at Al Sheehaniya Reserve for breeding wild animals. It improved the infrastructure of Al Thakhira Reserve, and prepared a comprehensive report on Al Reem Reserve for the Unesco. The department has been working on listing Khor Al Adaid Reserve at the World Heritage List and prepared the plan for developing Bin Ghannam Island. Besides, the department worked on eight programmes to multiply and rehabilitate the endangered species.

The department also exerted various efforts to raise public awareness on key related issue in collaborations with the entities concerned.
