The death toll from the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, has risen to 61,369 martyrs in addition to 152,850 wounded.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported in a statement today that ambulances, civil defense teams, and citizens transported 39 martyrs over the past 24 hours, including one whose body was recovered, in addition to 419 wounded to hospitals across the Strip. The statement noted that the death toll and the number of wounded recorded since the occupation violated the ceasefire agreement on March 18 have risen to 9,862, and 40,809 wounded.
It also stated that the death toll from aid operations increased by 21 martyrs and 341 injured over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,743 martyrs and 12,590 injured. It noted that hospitals in the Gaza Strip also recorded 11 new deaths due to famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of famine victims to 212, including 98 children.
It indicated that additional victims remain under the rubble of destroyed buildings, unable to be recovered by ambulance and civil defense crews due to the occupation's targeting and the lack of necessary equipment.
These field developments come amid the expanding famine across all areas of Gaza, and international demands for the occupation to open the Gaza Strip's crossings to allow the entry of humanitarian aid to the population.
