The Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) has slammed the Israeli decision to extend full control over the entire Gaza Strip and forcibly displace about 1mn Palestinians from Gaza City and the northern part of the Strip to the south.
In a statement issued Friday, the OIC considered this an escalation in the series of crimes of genocide, destruction, starvation, displacement, and Israeli siege of the Gaza Strip.
The OIC stressed that these crimes constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant challenge to relevant UN resolutions and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, including the provisional measures ordered by the court.
The OIC held Israel, as the occupying power, fully responsible for the consequences of these crimes, which exacerbate the unprecedented human suffering in the Gaza Strip.
The Arab League has also strongly condemned the Israeli plan.
In a statement issued Friday, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit described the plan as a clear reflection of Israel’s long-standing intentions and objectives since the beginning of the war on Gaza, to fully reoccupy the territory and expel as many of its residents as possible.
He affirmed that the Arab side categorically and unequivocally rejects and condemns this plan, as does the broader international community.
He stressed that the time has come for the international community to take a firm stand to stop this bloody campaign.
He noted that members of the Israeli government are driven by extreme ideologies or narrow self-interests, showing disregard even for the fate of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
The Muslim World League has strongly condemned the Israeli plan, describing it as a dangerous decision that undermines prospects for ending the war and achieving peace.
In a statement issued Friday, the League’s General Secretariat affirmed that the move reflects ongoing Israeli policies that disregard the lives and dignity of the Palestinian people, and continue to violate humanitarian values, international laws, and norms in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Egypt's foreign affairs ministry also condemned "in the strongest possible terms" Israel's plan for Gaza.
GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi said that the Israeli decision represents a blatant challenge to the will of the international community and a flagrant violation of all UN resolutions and international laws, stressing that this dangerous escalation undermines all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
Albudaiwi emphasised that this aggressive approach pursued by the Israeli occupation forces confirms their continued intent to threaten security and stability in the reThe Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly and unequivocally condemned the decision by the Israeli occupation authorities to take over the Gaza Strip, and firmly denounced the crimes of starvation, acts of brutality, and ethnic cleansing being committed against the Palestinian people.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said that the inhumane ideas and decisions adopted by the Israeli occupation authorities without deterrence once again demonstrate their disregard for the emotional, historical, and legal connection of the Palestinian people to their land, as well as their inalienable right to it based on international law and humanitarian principles.
The Kingdom warned that the continued failure of the international community and the UN Security Council to immediately halt Israeli attacks and violations undermines the foundations of the international order and international legitimacy, threatens security and peace at both the regional and global levels, and portends grave consequences that encourage acts of genocide and forced displacement.
King Abdullah II of Jordan affirmed, during a phone call Friday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, his country's categorical rejection of the Israeli plan.
He stressed that this step undermines the two-state solution and the rights of the Palestinian people, and threatens international efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement and end the humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
