At least four people were killed in flash floods triggered by heavy rains, which triggered landslides in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
Officials said the floods forced the evacuation of at least 70 people, while dozens remain missing.
Local media reported that heavy rains impacted rescue efforts in the state, with army rescue teams and disaster response forces struggling to reach Dharali village, a popular tourist destination and a stopover before the ascent to Gangotri town, as landslides closed a major highway amid continued heavy rainfall in the area.
An Indian Army official leading the rescue operations said the number of missing people was unknown, but relief efforts continued throughout the night to try to rescue people and bring them to safety.
