Al Duhail have announced the signing of Brazilian central defender Lucas Silva Melo, known as Tuta, from German side Eintracht Frankfurt. In a statement, the club confirmed that Tuta will join the first team starting next season. However, the duration of the contract was not disclosed.
The 26-year-old defender brings considerable experience to the squad. He began his professional career at Sao Paulo in Brazil before making the move to Europe, joining Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga. He also spent a loan spell at Belgian club Kortrijk before sealing his move to the Qatari side.
Tuta's arrival continues Duhail’s busy transfer window, as the club looks to reinforce its squad for the new season. Recent high-profile signings include Italian midfielder Marco Verratti, Cameroonian defender Jean-Charles Castelletto, Polish striker Krzysztof Piątek, Algerian winger Adel Boulbina, and Senegalese right-back Youssouf Sabaly.
Duhail are aiming to bounce back after a disappointing campaign last season, where they finished second in the Qatar Stars League with 50 points — just two behind champions Al Sadd. The club is determined to return to title-winning form and compete strongly across all competitions in the upcoming season.
