The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's Department of Chemicals and Hazardous Waste organised a series of co-ordination meetings from July 27-29, which hosted a team of experts from the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido).

The visit aimed to follow up on the implementation of the HCFC (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) Phase-Out Management Plan, including the mechanisms for monitoring trade of these substances due to their harmful impact on the environment.

The agenda of the visit also included meetings with several companies that import these substances, in addition to coordination sessions with customs officials to enhance control mechanisms and ensure compliance with environmental requirements outlined in international agreements.

This initiative reflects Qatar’s commitment to protecting the ozone layer and continuing its active role as a party to the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol through strengthened cooperation with relevant international organizations.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change affirms that this visit is part of the country's ongoing efforts to fulfill its international environmental obligations and support global efforts aimed at preserving the ozone layer and protecting the planet.
