The Qatari collegiate national team wrapped up its participation in the 2025 Summer World University Games "Rhine-Ruhr 2025" hosted by Germany, with the participation of more than 8,500 athletes from 150 countries competing over 12 days in 18 sports.

The closing ceremony was attended today by HE President of the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF), Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi, President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Lions Eider, FISU Secretary General, Matthias Raymond, members of the Executive Committee, and heads of continental and national university sports federations.

The QCSF's stars delivered an honorable performance in fencing, table tennis, taekwondo, and tennis, concluding their participation amid well-deserved fanfare, with Maram Al Fatnasi clinching ninth place in the taekwondo competition, highlighting the remarkable progress of women's university sports in Qatar.

In fencing (sabre), the duo Abdullah Khalifa and Khalid Hussein showed promising potential, finishing 36th and 18th respectively.

In table tennis, the trio of Abdullah Abdulwahab, Yousef Magdy, and Maryam Ali advanced to the second round of the individual events. Mubarakah Al Naimi represented Qatar in tennis and gave a notably competitive performance.

The event stands as the largest in the history of the World University Games, with athletes competing in 234 medal events across 18 sports over 12 days of intense competition, held at 23 sports venues spread across several German cities, mostly Berlin, Duisburg, and Bochum.

To mark this occasion, Secretary-General of QCSF, Rashid Saeed Adiba, affirmed that he was grateful for the skillful and technical performance exhibited by the Qatari male and female athletes, indicating that their participation amplified a lot of expertise and contributed to honing their skills through directly engaging with the young athletes on the global stage.

Adiba further asserted that the participation underscores Qatar's steadfast commitment to FISU's upheld values, in terms of the outstanding collective spirit, as well as innovation and integrity.

He underlined that this participation manifests the assiduous desire to elevate Qatari collegiate sports to new frontiers on the global and continental stages.
