Sales at the second edition of the Pakistani Mango Festival (Al Hamba Exhibition) have crossed 82 tonnes in the first four days.

According to figures released by the Souq Waqif management, the sales reached 82,654kg.

The festival has also recorded more than 42,000 visitors.

The festival opened on Thursday at Souq Waqif to feature an array of mangoes along with its products.

On the first day, a total of 16,186kg mangoes were sold, while on the second day and third day the festival recorded 29,091kg and 19,606kg in sales, respectively.

The fourth day recorded sales of 17,771kg.

On the first and second days, the festival received 10,000 and 13,000 visitors, respectively.

On the third and fourth days, the festival received 11,000 and 8,000 visitors, respectively.

Held at the Eastern Square of Souq Waqif, the festival is organised by the Private Engineering Office in co-ordination with the embassy of Pakistan.

To run until July 19, the exhibition sells Sindhri, Chaunsa, Safeed Chaunsa, Anwar Ratool and Duseri along with Pakistan seasonal fruits such as black plum, peach, plum and falsa and peaches-all freshly flown exclusively for the festival.

A number of mango products including juices, ice creams and cakes are also available on sale.

The exhibition is open daily from 4pm-10pm except on public holidays when it receives visitors until 10pm.

The second edition of the festival boasts of 74 sellers, with a number of companies from Pakistan with track record of producing high-quality mangoes.

The exhibition also features more than 25 restaurants and shops that offer Pakistani culinary experience with dishes and a variety of mango products.

The organisers have put in place strict conditions for participation in the festival to ensure the quality of the displayed items.

The prices were set to be affordable, with an emphasis on products unavailable in local markets.
