The Nigerian presidency announced Sunday the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari at the age of 82.
A Nigerian presidential spokesman said in a post on the X platform that former President Muhammadu Buhari died today in London, UK, after a long battle with illness.
The late Nigerian president served as president from 2015 to 2023, and had previously served as head of state from January 1984 to August 1985.
