The second edition of the Pakistani Mango Festival (Al Hamba Exhibition) will feature more than 70 sellers from Qatar and Pakistan at Souq Waqif’s Eastern Square from Thursday.
Organised by the Celebrations Committee of the Private Engineering Office (PEO), in co-operation with the embassy of Pakistan in Doha, the festival will run until July 19. The visiting hours will be from 4pm to 9pm extending to 10pm on official holidays.
The second edition, according to a statement from PEO, comes in response to the great success of last year’s inaugural event, which witnessed wide public attendance and positive engagement.
This year, the exhibition features participation from over 60 local Qatari companies and more than 10 specialised Pakistani companies involved in mango trading and export.
These companies will provide top-quality, fresh mango varieties flown in specifically for the exhibition, including new types being introduced for the first time in the Qatari market.
The exhibition also boasts the participation of more than 25 restaurants and shops in the food and hospitality sector, offering innovative dishes and a wide range of mango-based products adding a unique cultural and culinary dimension to the visitor experience.
“We have ensured that the exhibition site is equipped with suitable cooling systems to maintain the freshness of mangoes, which are flown in daily from Pakistan specifically for this event. We anticipate a strong turnout this year and are committed to offering an even better experience than last year’s highly praised edition,” general supervisor Khalid Saif al-Suwaidi said.
“What distinguishes this year’s exhibition is the extensive participation of both local and Pakistani companies specialising in mango trade and products. We hope this will stimulate economic activity by enhancing trade exchange and fostering healthy competition among traders, ultimately benefiting local consumers through variety and quality,” he added.
Pakistan ambassador Muhammad Aamer, said: “The Al Hamba Festival is not only a celebration of Pakistan’s finest mango varieties, but also a vibrant showcase of our country’s rich agricultural heritage. I would like to congratulate the Celebrations Organising Committee of the Private Engineering Office for their outstanding efforts in organising this event. As the embassy of Pakistan, we deeply cherish this co-operation, which continues to strengthen the bonds of friendship and collaboration between Pakistan and Qatar,” he said.
Pakistan embassy’s Trade and Investment attaché Serein Asad said they are grateful to the Celebrations Organising Committee of the Private Engineering Office, Pakistan’s ministry of foreign Affairs, and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan for their co-operation in organising the mega event.
