The South Korean government announced the intensification of trade talks with the United States regarding tariffs.

This came in a statement by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, after the deadline for implementing the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the US on South Korea was extended until August 1.

The ministry added that it will work to accelerate negotiations to reach mutually beneficial outcomes during the remaining period to resolve the uncertainty caused by the tariffs.

US President Donald Trump sent a letter to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Monday announcing the imposition of 25% tariffs on South Korean imports starting next month.
