The Qatar Chess Association (QCA) yesterday announced the details for its highly anticipated 2025 Summer Program, set to take place at the federation’s training centre from July 6-31.
This initiative, backed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, aims to be a cornerstone in the nation’s efforts to foster a new generation of chess talent.
The comprehensive four-week program is designed to immerse participants in the fundamentals of chess while honing their strategic thinking.
It’s a clear move by the Federation to broaden the game’s appeal, unearth hidden gems, and draw more aspiring players into their development pipeline.
The goal is simple: identify raw talent and then sculpt their abilities through targeted training. The daily sessions, tailored for young minds aged 6-12, will run from 10:00am-12:30pm, promising an engaging and educational experience throughout July.
The QCA has crafted a dynamic agenda that extends beyond the 64 squares. The Summer Program will incorporate a variety of cultural, awareness, and entertainment workshops, thanks to collaborations with key government entities and institutions.
Partners include the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Qatar Scientific Club, the Qatar Red Crescent, and the Friends of the Environment Center.
This holistic approach underscores the federation’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals, not just skilled chess players.
