The Philippine embassy in Qatar, led by ambassador Mardomel Celo D Melicor, extended vital assistance to 31 Filipino nationals transiting through Hamad International Airport following their repatriation on Monday.
The repatriated group included 26 Filipinos evacuated from Israel to Jordan, along with three others from Jordan, one from Palestine, and one from Qatar.
The operation was overseen by Department of Migrant Workers secretary Hans Leo J Cacdac and assistant secretary Venecio Legaspi, who personally accompanied the evacuees.
Initially stranded due to the temporary closure of Qatari airspace, the group’s onward flight to Manila was delayed. Flights resumed in the early hours of Tuesday, allowing the repatriates to continue their journey.
Melicor and his team at the Philippine embassy worked closely with Qatari authorities to ensure the safety, comfort, and smooth transit of the group during their unexpected layover.
