Rai Benjamin continued his stellar 2025 season with a commanding win in the men’s 400m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League Friday, clocking a meet record of 46.93 seconds.

The American was pushed to the line by Qatar’s Abderrahman Samba, who stormed to a season-best 47.09 secs — his fastest time in seven years. Samba’s performance not only signalled a return to top form but also surpassed Tokyo Olympic champion Karsten Warholm’s 2025 best of 47.28 secs.

Trevor Bassitt of the US took third place in 48.14 secs. Benjamin, the reigning Olympic champion, has now claimed back-to-back Diamond League wins in less than a week, cementing his position as the man to beat at this year’s World championships in Tokyo.
