The State of Qatar has expressed its worries and rejection of the new series of escalations in the region as all of the countries of the regions have expressed their desire to deescalate such serious attacks and maintain regional and international peace and stability, pointed out Dr Majid al-Ansari, Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the weekly briefing of the Ministry.
He said that all world countries want to stop the escalation in this ongoing exchange of attacks between Israel and Iran but Israel insists on going on with such dangerous escalations. He said that the situation would not accommodate for more escalations. Besides, Qatar has been working with all intentional partners and concerned parties and entities, in particular the US, to reach a settlement deal to avoid such reckless targeting of the nuclear facilities in Iran that could have its negative impacts on the energy supplies in the GCC region and the regional waters and trade roads for energy and fertilizers supplies.
He noted that this region supplies 30% of the world energy supplies and fertilizers and 20% of LNG needs. Accordingly, any attempts to undermine the stability and security of the region would have its dear impacts on the global trade and energy supply. However, he stressed that the situation so far is safe and stable in the GCC and Qatar regional waters is safe and stable and the concerned entities in Qatar are constantly monitoring the levels of radiations in the waters, which is so far normal and safe. Besides, work is going on normal at the oil and gas fields including off-shore ones and the navigation routes in Strait of Hormuz are going well and normal as usual.
Meanwhile, Qatar peace and mediations efforts are going on to reach out a peace settlement as soon as possible with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani various communications with world leaders, in particular, the President of Iran, President Donald Trump, and other world leaders including the Amir of Kuwait, the Prime Minister of Iraq, and the Prime Minister of Italy and others to support the peace efforts in the regions. Further, President Trump expressed his desire to reach out a peaceful deal with Iran and stop any further escalations praising the effective role of Qatari mediation.
In the meantime, HE the Prime Minister and Minister Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has made various communications with high level world officials, including the Foreign Ministers of Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Italy, Spain, UK, Greece, Canada and other top-level officials around the world to promote peace talks and avoid any further escalations of the conflict between Iran and Israel.
Dr Al-Ansari stressed the Qatari official communications and contacts are going on daily and all the efforts are being exerted to calm down the situation as continuing such escalations would have its negative impacts on the whole world.
He also explained that Qatar is very keen to maintain the security, safety and wellbeing of all people living and working in the country, as the North Field Project are citizens from more than 80 different world countries with thousands of them there working for different international companies affiliated with different countries.
He said: "Our facilities are safe and secured, as there is no sign that there are any risks to our daily operations but we are concerned about the safety and security of the international community around the world,"
Asked about emergency plans, he stressed that Qatar has plans for every possible scenarios and the country has an excellent record and experience in handling and overcoming every crisis. The water of the Arabian Gulf is being monitored on daily basis and all is safe and clean. Yet any expansion of these hostile attacks and reckless actions could have its possible unpredicted ramifications of negative impacts.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, he stressed that there is no way to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza but to make Israel immediately allow the follow of aid supplies to the people there. He also expressed Qatar worries about the deteriorating humanitarian situation there, stressing that there is a need for more international pressure on Israel to unconditional allow safe passage for the aid supplies and Qatar is still in contact with all the concerned international entities to deliver the aid to the affected people.
Similarly, Qatar is keen to maintain peace and stability in Sudan and works to support the mediation efforts to resolve the dispute among all the concerned parties while the delivery of humanitarian aid goes on.
Regarding the ongoing efforts to unite the Ukrainian and Russian children with their respective families, he said that Qatar will continue these efforts and is still working with both parties separately to reach good outcomes on this.
