The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation has declared a maximum state of alert at Cairo International Airport and across all Egyptian airports in anticipation of potential emergency developments in regional air traffic, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement issued Friday, the Ministry affirmed that Egyptian airspace remains safe and fully operational, with all flight activities proceeding normally in accordance with the highest international air safety standards.
The Ministry emphasized that it is closely monitoring the evolving situation around the clock through the main operations center at Cairo International Airport. It also confirmed ongoing coordination with civil aviation authorities in neighboring countries, some of which have temporarily closed their airspace due to the current crisis.
The statement noted that Cairo International Airport received nine aircraft operated by foreign airlines for refueling, following the redirection of their flight paths due to airspace closures in the region. All aircraft departed promptly after receiving the necessary technical and logistical support.
In a related development, EgyptAir announced the cancellation of three flights scheduled to Baghdad, Amman, and Beirut, pending the reopening of airspace in those destinations.
