Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, discussed over the phone Thursday joint efforts of Egypt, the United States, and the State of Qatar to swiftly reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and ensure full access to humanitarian aid in order to alleviate the suffering of civilians in the Strip.

During the call, Abdelatty emphasized the need to reach a permanent and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that meets the aspirations of the peoples of the region for sustainable peace, security, and stability. He also emphasized the importance of continuing the existing negotiating process, as it represents a significant opportunity to achieve calm, avoid escalation, and prevent the region from sliding into further instability.
