Steps are being taken to repatriate the bodies of the five Qatar-based Indian nationals who died in a road accident in Kenya on Monday.

In a post on X, the Indian embassy in Qatar said the postmortem of the victims were completed on Tuesday night. Further formalities for the transportation of the mortal remains are being co-ordinated by the high commission of India in Nairobi.

“All other 23 Indians (in the group) have been shifted to Nairobi and are receiving necessary medical attention. Our high commission is constantly monitoring and providing help,” the post said.

“One of the accident victims is in a critical condition. The injured are getting necessary medical attention,” an Indian embassy official in Qatar told Gulf Times.
The Indian high commission in Nairobi, in a post on X, said a consular team is on the ground and in close contact with the local authorities to extend all necessary support. The team can be reached at +254 734916532.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on Ol Jororok-Nakuru Road in Nyandarua County, in which five Indian nationals have lost their lives. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. We pray for the swift recovery of the injured,” the X post said.

“The mission is providing assistance to the affected,” a consular official in Nairobi told Gulf Times. The tragic incident in central Kenya on Monday evening happened as the bus, in which the victims were travelling in overturned during a holiday trip.

The deceased have been identified as Geetha Shoji Issac (58), Riya Ann (41) and her daughter Tyra Rodrigues (8), Jasna Kuttikkattuchalil (30) and Roohie Mehrin (18 months old) – all Qatar residents and natives of various places in Kerala.
