More than 24 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured on Wednesday as Israeli occupation forces opened fire on crowds near an aid distribution center in central Gaza, and a drone strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in Khan Yunis.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), over 20 Palestinians were martyred and many others wounded by Israeli gunfire near the Netzarim checkpoint in central Gaza, where people had gathered to receive humanitarian aid.
In Khan Yunis, four more Palestinians were killed and others injured in an aerial missile strike by Israeli forces that hit a tent for displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area of Al-Qarara town, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. This attack coincided with artillery shelling on the Qizan Abu Rashwan and Al-Batn Al-Sameen areas in Khan Yunis
In recent days, Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted aid distribution points in Rafah and central Gaza, resulting in dozens of casualties. The United Nations has condemned these attacks as part of a systematic ethnic cleansing campaign and an attempt to forcibly displace civilians.
Since the implementation of aid distribution points on May 27, the total number of Palestinians killed at these sites has exceeded 130, with hundreds more injured.
The Israeli military offensive on Gaza, ongoing since October 7, 2023, has so far led to the death of 54,981 Palestinians and injured 126,920 others, in a still-incomplete tally, as many bodies remain trapped under rubble or in the streets, inaccessible due to relentless bombardment.
The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues to worsen, with persistent strikes targeting residential areas, the few remaining medical and service facilities, and displacement camps. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities continue to obstruct the entry of humanitarian aid, further compounding the suffering of civilians
