The MES Alumni Association (Mesaa) convened its Annual General Body Meeting 2025 recently, followed by the Grand Jashn alumni reunion.
President Fazil Hameed presented an overview of Mesaa’s progress, milestones, and activities over the 2023–2025 term.
General secretary Samra Mahboob followed with the Annual Report, and treasurer Nayeema Basheer delivered the financial summary of the term.
A felicitation ceremony honoured the outgoing office bearers. Advisory board chair Shaheen Shafi led the appreciation, commending the team’s dedication and consistent efforts in building a vibrant alumni community
The meeting also marked a leadership transition, with Samra Mahboob officially assuming the role of president for the 2025–2027 term. She was joined by a new team of office bearers: Vice-president - Shakeeb Ahmed, general secretary - Muhammed Safwan, treasurer - Akbar Ali, joint secretaries - Cinderella Williams (corporate relations), Hiba Mohamed (social media, marketing), Shehin Shajahan and Meshal Abdul Nisthar (events), Rasees Hussain and Nazeeha Hameed (member relations), and joint secretary - Nayeema Basheer (youth development).
The term 2023–2025 witnessed several achievements and initiatives. Mesaa grew its membership from just 28 to over 1,400 members and launched the Mesaa Membership Card in partnership with over 90 loyalty vendors.
Corporate collaborations were expanded across sectors such as fashion, food, healthcare, and automobiles to enhance alumni engagement. Cultural and community-building events and Iftar gatherings were conducted, along with three major batch-wise alumni reunions, culminating in the Grand Jashn for alumni from 1974-2025.
The association also made strides in youth development, launching the Mesaa Gavel Club and organised two seasons of the B K Mohammed Kunhi Elocution Competition with broad participation from Indian and international schools. The Mesaa Toastmasters Club celebrated its 25th and 50th sessions, earned the Premium Star Club Award in Qatar, and saw active member participation in national events.
MES Alumni’s audience on social media grew by over 50%, supported by regular newsletters and the launch of branded alumni merchandise. One of the most significant announcements at the AGM was the formal establishment of the MESF Sports Wing as an independent body under Mesaa, dedicated to organising year-round sports activities for alumni.
The newly appointed MESF leadership team includes Nihad Ali (chairman), Mahroof Ul Haq and Muksith Thangal (vice chairmen) and Faheem Ul Haq and Sajid Ettol (executive directors). MESF veteran Mahroof Ul Haq addressed the gathering, sharing the legacy and impact of MESF’s sporting journey and its evolution into one of the most active alumni-led sports platforms in Qatar.
