Doha College, a leading British international school in the Middle East, marked its debut at the BSME Swimming Championships with a team of 22 student-athletes and reaped medals across a range of age groups and events.
Among the standout athletes were: Tara S (age 11) – one gold, three silver and a third in FINA World Ranking; Alina A (age 14) – two gold, one silver and also third in FINA World Ranking. The relay teams across various age categories won multiple silver finishes.
“These achievements are a testament not only to the athletes’ training and dedication but to the rich sporting education embedded within the Doha College experience,” said Gary Froud, the college’s director of sport.
Doha College is renowned for producing elite athletes, including Nada Arakji, an Olympic-level swimmer representing Qatar. The institution was recently recognised as one of the Top 100 Schools in the World by Spear’s and Carfax Education.
As one of the first schools in the world to be BSO-accredited (British Schools Overseas), the college continues to set benchmarks in academic, pastoral, and co-curricular provision.
“Our swimmers have showcased what a world-class British education looks like when it is supported by outstanding coaching, student dedication, and a school culture that values every dimension of a child’s growth,” said David Tongue, principal of Doha College.
