The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC)'s Wildlife Development Department has carried out an extensive inspection campaign that covered all the parts of the country to detect violations related to the exploitation of natural stone resources.
Department personnel detected several violations, including the unauthorised extraction, sale, and transportation of stone and landfill materials from government project sites, without obtaining the necessary official permits.
These actions constitute a clear violation of Law No 3 of 2007 on the Exploitation of Natural Resources, and Law No 30 of 2002 Promulgating the Law of the Environment Protection.
Violation reports were issued in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, and the violators referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
