As part of preparations for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays, Doha Municipality, represented by the Municipal Control Department’s Health Control Section, has launched daily morning and evening inspection campaigns.
These will continue until the end of the Eid holiday, with the aim of enhancing food monitoring, ensuring its safety and suitability for consumption, and preventing the circulation of any food items that do not comply with health regulations.
The campaign includes 14 field inspection initiatives and around 10,000 monitoring visits targeting various food establishments.
In addition, 250 food samples will be collected for laboratory testing to ensure their compliance with standards.
The inspections focus on traditional kitchens that prepare feasts and banquets, butcher shops – where displayed meat is checked for safety and freshness, as well as live poultry shops, food production, distribution, and repackaging companies, in addition to hotels, restaurants, fruit and vegetable shops, sweets stores, and nut retailers.
The campaign also covers food outlets in public places such as parks and beaches, which are popular family destinations during Eid, as well as tourist and entertainment areas like Souq Waqif, the Old Doha Port, Msheireb, Katara, and the Pearl.
The inspections further extend to women’s salons, men's barbershops, and laundries, ensuring that workers comply with health regulations.
Educational and awareness materials are provided to both workers and consumers regarding proper health practices.
The campaign includes guiding consumers on the correct methods for selecting and storing food, safe transportation after shopping, and how to properly choose, slaughter, and store sacrificial animals in accordance with public health standards.
Al Wakrah Municipality's Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department has meanwhile launched an inspection and awareness campaign targeting traditional kitchens within its jurisdiction to ensure compliance with health regulations and to educate workers on proper food handling practices in preparation for Eid al-Adha.
