The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s Department of Wildlife Development has confiscated five falcons that were seized at Hamad International Airport due to the failure to meet the legal requirements for their import.

These measures come as part of the ministry’s commitment to enforcing the provisions of Law No 5 of 2006 on the Regulation of Trade in Endangered Wildlife Fauna and Flora and their Products and to ensure compliance with national and international legislation governing the trade of endangered species.

The ministry stressed its continued efforts to take all necessary legal measures to preserve biodiversity and protect the country’s natural resources. It emphasised the importance of adhering to the established rules and procedures when importing or transporting wildlife. The ministry also called on all citizens and residents to co-operate and comply with environmental laws and regulations to ensure the sustainability of Qatar’s environment and biodiversity, and work towards the protection of endangered species as stipulated by national laws and international agreements.
