Birla Public School (BPS) ceremoniously inducted the newly elected Prefectorial Board and Student Council for the academic year 2025–26, comprising a cohort of 275 young leaders. The event stood as a tribute to the values of leadership, accountability, and service — foundational pillars of the school’s enduring ethos.
The guests vice-chairman Dr Mohan Thomas, director C V Rappai, and management representatives Chindhu Antony and Sidharth Shahani were joined by principal Dr Anand R Nair, vice-principals Radhika Rele and Edna Fernandez.
In his keynote address, Dr Nair inspired students to rise to their responsibilities with integrity and strive for excellence in all pursuits. The highlight of the event was the oath-taking and badging ceremony, where student leaders, including head boy Muhammed Rayan Savad and head girl Devipriya Chandhirahasan, along with vice head boy and girl, presidents, secretaries, cultural secretaries, campus correspondents, sports captains, house captains, vice-captains, martinets, prefects, assistant prefects and student council members, solemnly pledged their commitment to serve the school with dedication and honour.
The dignitaries joined the school leadership team in adorning the student leaders with their official badges and sashes. The flag ceremony saw house masters, house mistresses, house captains and vice-captains receiving their flags and sashes.
Dr Thomas delivered a speech highlighting that leadership knows no age, citing the remarkable example of Sanna Marin, the world’s youngest Prime Minister of Finland. Rappai called upon the student leaders to work collaboratively and foster a spirit of unity and humility in their service. In their maiden addresses the head girl and head boy spoke with passion about their roles and the trust placed in them.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Student Council speakers Ruben Baby Mathews and Martha Geordy.
