The Arab League affirmed that mass forced displacement stands out as one of the most horrific experiences endured by the Palestinian people during the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip, in a scene that recalls the images of the first Nakba in 1948, when Palestinians were uprooted from their villages and cities.
The League noted that the same scene was repeating today, but in a far more brutal fashion, as today there is no refuge, no safe humanitarian corridors, and no guarantees of a near return.
In a statement marking the 77th anniversary of the Nakba of the Palestinian people, the Arab League explained that this great tragedy in the history of humanity, committed in 1948, continues to unfold and grow to this day. The Palestinian people have been subjected to genocide, killing, displacement, forced expulsion, and atrocities that shame all of humanity, turning millions of Palestinians into refugees and internally or externally displaced persons, in one of the harshest examples of oppression and injustice faced by any people on earth in centuries.
The statement reiterated its condemnation and criminalization of the Israeli war of aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which has been perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces for more than 585 days.
