Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, discussed by phone on Tuesday the forthcoming steps of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee with international stakeholders to galvanize global support for the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza in the upcoming period.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that both ministers conferred on the developments in the Gaza Strip in the wake of the current humanitarian catastrophe unfolding there and the ongoing, unconscionable Israeli onslaught.
Dr. Abdelatty apprised his Turkish counterpart of Egypt's efforts, in collaboration with the State of Qatar and the United States, to resume the ceasefire and release the hostages and prisoners, in addition to ensuring the unhindered flow of humanitarian, medical, and shelter aid into Gaza.
In addition, Dr. Abdelatty briefed Fidan on the preparations for the Cairo International Conference for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which will be convened upon reaching a ceasefire deal.
Both ministers unequivocally pushed back on any attempts to displace the Palestinians from their territories, stressing the importance of reaching an enduring and just political solution for the Palestinian cause through the two-state solution and establishing the independent Palestinian State along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
During the call, both sides shared perspectives on the state of play in Libya, with Dr. Abdelatty stressing Egypt's support for the Libyan national institutions.
Dr. Abdelatty reaffirmed his country's position in support of safeguarding Libya's unity and territorial integrity, emphasizing the Libyan people's sole ownership of the political process, and stressed the need to hold presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously at the earliest possible date
