With a legacy of over three decades in the global hospitality sector, Patrick Cyril Baptist, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha, is bringing a fresh wave of innovation, guest-centric service, and community engagement to one of Doha’s leading upscale hotels.
Baptist began his journey in hospitality at the age of 18 in Singapore, working as a kitchen porter and Commis Chef at the Shangri-La. Over the years, he has held senior food and beverage and operations roles in 15 hotels across seven countries, becoming a General Manager in 2008. “I fell in love with the industry’s energy and diversity early on,” he says. “What drives me is creating standout guest experiences and empowering teams to achieve excellence.”
Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha, a prominent property near Hamad International Airport, has carved a niche in Qatar’s competitive hospitality market by focusing on meaningful guest interactions and top-tier amenities. “We’re more than just a place to stay,” Baptist explains. “Our newly renovated rooms and suites, warm service, and inviting dining venues create spaces that bring people together and foster a sense of belonging.”
Recent renovations have elevated the hotel’s offerings significantly. From redesigned guest rooms and suites, including fitness-themed accommodations, to a visually striking new atrium lobby and enhanced meeting facilities, every update is designed to reflect modern luxury and comfort. “This year is all about delivering a refreshed experience,” says Baptist. “We’ve reimagined every detail to cater to the needs of today’s business and leisure travellers.”
At the heart of Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha’s success is a team-first philosophy rooted in Hyatt’s global mantra: “We care for our people so they can be their best.” This approach, Baptist says, is the foundation of the hotel’s high service standards. “When our team feels supported, they bring genuine care and energy to every guest interaction.”
In line with Qatar’s growing focus on sustainable development, the hotel is also deepening its commitment to the local community and the environment. Baptist notes, “We support local talent, build partnerships with homegrown suppliers, and continue to adopt eco-conscious practices across our operations. Supporting sustainable tourism is not just a checkbox—it’s a long-term responsibility.”
As Doha evolves into a dynamic multicultural hub, Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha is poised to remain a key player in the city’s hospitality landscape, blending global standards with a deep appreciation for local culture and values.
